NURBS in 3ds Max

NURBS is computer graphics application which allows you to create curves and surface with elasticity and free hand delivery. There are two ways of creating model via Polygons or NURBS. Both have different type of setting. The polygons are mostly used for creating object and model instantly. The polygonal objects are located on shelf menu or you can choose them from polygon menu also.

The NURBS are created with curve and surface setting. This curve is created with CV curve, the polygonal objects are created just for increasing the length of surface and you can stretch it with the help of edge loop extension. On the other hand the NURBs indicates only specific surface of objects. The NURBS are created mathematically and it helps us to find out details of such object. The NURBS are originated with CV (control vertices) having shape like linear equation and later on with some other effects it comes into such position to define any suitable objects.

NURBS and Polygon

The component level is considered as very important part of NURBS and polygon. The main components of these two are vertices, edges and faces. The edges are the boundary line of the object whereas the points where the edges connect are called vertices.

When we adjust vertices setting for the recovery of our model it is known as vertices manipulation. The face is the central part of object. The face is used to extrude the object at your own desire. The edge increases the length of the object using its edge loop setting. The parameters for 2D object are denoted with U and V similarly UVW indicates the parameters for 3D model. The following video is demonstrating the same technique of NURBS modeling in 3D studio max.
