Polygon Modeling Basics

Poly modeling (Polygonal modeling) is frequently using form in 3ds max.

Most of the projects are engaged with the polygon modeling. It is very easy to convert any object in polygonal modeling. At down side the polygonal modeling does not have resolution independent, with lower resolution we can animate the project very easily and in short time.

But their lack of detail makes them undesirable for high resolution like Film and Videos. In polygonal modeling almost all type of the object can be edited as polygonal object. Polygonal vertices are consisting on many components like, Vertex, Edge, Face and Element. Editable poly mesh has also ability to triangulate the sub object while the editable poly have border sub object. Among the components, the vertex is considered as building block of the polygonal object. Edge is used for connecting two points to make a line. Edges also connect the size of polygon and faces. The border connects the loops of edges to open burden of the object.

A polygon expresses multiple triangles. The big difference between editable mesh and editable poly is that poly object has any number of polygons with different size, whereas the editable mesh based on triangle. The editable mesh is the simplest form of the polygonal modeling. It is used to precise over the control where needed. In many applications editable poly is considered perfect geometry.
