Max Tutorial for Beginners – Create a Stylized Chest – UVW Unwrapping

Here we are going to show you about UV unwrapping, a wonderful technique of modifier. We shall learn this concept through reference image and we have already this model in our drive. Just launched the 3d studio max and open the scene.

We shall work on the shirt of the character, the projection map for the cloth is here and we shall open the UV editor and check out parent and in this scene we have plane of projection. We have quick short cut along the work-space in UV editor and we can modify the shape of projection very quickly. With just click on one tool or command the projection shape will be changed instantly.

To unwrap the object just click on one icon and our object will be unwrapped. It doesn’t need of any lengthy performance. For UV unwrapping, we can cut or stretch the object for the scene demands similarly you can break it too for obtaining actual shape. We break those areas only which is creating confusion or disturbance in our scene.

The UV wrapping is also combined with other tools called pins and it is much different from cut or stretching of mapping. The function of pins icon is to stretching or squeezing the texture on shirt.
