Free Up Memory In 3d Studio Max

If you are working in 3D studio max and it is creating any problem at rendering stageor lethargic the scene, the some script in 3d studio max will prove helpful to you in this matter.

  • Go () Garbage Collection.
  • Free-scene-bitmaps () Cleans up in texture memory.
  • Clear-Undo-Buffer() Removes your Undo’s

To return the file or setting just type it in text field.(Fig.01).

Note: If you have windows task manager open plus monitoring 3d studio Max memory use, you can observe quite blank space as result.
And that is pretty much it… if you want to go further and create the functions more accessible read below on how to create it into a script that you can run directly from a button on your Toolbar.

Making it a Script

I put every one three functions into a little script you can run instead of manually typing it in all time (“FreeMem.mcr”). Right click and select Save As.

Once saved, just run the script from the MAXScripts bill of fare in 3ds Max (Fig.02)

If you want more appropriate result then you can create button in your toolbar for the sake of script. Next you have to do that open the script direct from script option and you don’t need to use run check box.(Fig.03).

If you want to run the menu for script go to run>Evaluate all (Ctrl+E) from MAX –Script menu bar.In older version, the evaluate all is laid under file menu.

To insert the script to a button every you have to do is right-click in the Toolbar and select Customize (Fig.04).

Then now locate “My-Scripts” and drag plus drop the Free Up Memory stroke to your Toolbar (Fig.05).

The pre-shaped button can be modified and replaced with your desired one. Now right click on the button and make it active by selecting edit button appearance.it offers you great number of tools and commands to choose from.
