Extended Primitives in 3Ds Max

There are some other primitives in 3D studio MAX besides basic primitives

Extended Primitives  – They have also their different function and uses. Here we shall discuss them in detail one by one. Here are given below some of them.Hedra, Chamfer Box, Oil Tank, Spindle, Gengon, Prism, Torus Knot, capsule, L-Ext, C-ext and Hose.

First of all we take Hedra; we can change its shape by editing its parameter ratio. Next is Chamfer Box, it is also like box shape but a little bit different from it. Oil Tank can be changed their shape by doing little changing its radius and parameter. If we increase towards Y and Z-Axis, it will become like Capsule shape. If we brought change in Spindle, it will change its shape quite different from original sometimes same as Top (a toy). Gengon are mostly used for making pillar in animation and modeling. Next we have Prism which is used to give the object prism shape in animation clip. Torus knot is used for any kind of involving knot, you can either make knot or in circle shape. With capsule we can change in its ratio level from modifier and give them in long and short capsule type shape. L-Ext is L shaped primitive when we drag, it will become like an L- shaped. Similarly C-Ext has also C-shaped when we drag it.

Now our last primitive is to be discussed that is Hose. It is mostly used in mechanical modeling and we can change its vertices as much we need. So they are the extended primitive. You can use them better yourself when you are doing practice.
