Creating Underwater Scene Part 1

In this 3d max we shall learn how to create a scene in 3d underwater scene. It is very hard to make an accurate real scene of 3d water. We start our lesson in prospective view. To modify the render in mental ray, go to render and in the drop-down list chooses to render set up. Scroll down and click on the render chooser button.

This button offers you to choose any render option for rendering. Now go to geometry and select plane then modify it in modifier panel. Hit “Z” from keyboard to view plane completely. Go to the modifier panel and choose displace and view it in prospective view-port. Press “M” for modifier panel, select any empty slot and then click on assigning a material to selection.

Now here we can change its parameter.

First of all run the noise parameter as “Turbulence”. Select every other empty slot and then click on getting the material button This will create that empty slot as in our scene. Use templates as “water reflective surface”, now modify the value in refraction. For object setting and scroll down to the transparency option. We have created the refractive material; next we need “Environment and Effect” as well. Go to rendering panel and in the drop-down list choose “Environment”. We can also find “Environment” by pressing 8 from the keyboard. In “Environment” window click on the map and choose “Gradient Ramp” from there.

Take third empty slot from material editor and drag the “Environment” map effect to that slot. The next step is to set the “Gradient Ramp” parameter and choose their color. Finally we have prepared 3d underwater scene successfully. Fix camera on the scene in top view, similarly assign light to the scene from creating a panel as under area spot light. For detail watch the video part 2.
