Science Provides Luxuries to Mankind

English Speech ———— Section Middle

Let me set this bet on wheel
Why it bears a stash of steal
Leave me bleed and please don’t heal
Wheel o wheel don’t make me feel

Praiseworthy, honorable president and respected audience!

Did you see my poetry? This poet is afraid of going into a state which is luxurious. He wants to be in pain because he is afraid of the rotation of a wheel. We know that wheel is the basic apparatus of a machine and we know that machines bring us to luxuries.

But, wait! Dear president! Please with due apology you should wait for my response back to the poet.

Look at those buildings like Dubai tower isn’t that a symbol of human dignity. No doubt those luxuries bring indolence to nations but with flowers there are always wanes. Luxuries can kill a nation if they are not upgrading themselves.

Ok! Let me repeat my topic!

“Science provides luxuries to mankind’

But my topic’s real essence is to define luxury as opulence and not as idleness, as extravaganza and not as redundancy, comfort and not laziness. So why shouldn’t we appreciate science for its graces upon humanity? Why great scientists have been given so many noble prizes? Because they served peace to humanity, they are the heroes of mankind.

Dear president!

Why someone should not accept the gifts from the science if they need them? Why some orthodox people are afraid of scientific researches due to their luxury providing behavior? They must think about the benefits as well. Why don’t they do so?

Although, a materialistic, stoic and hopeless society is always not in the condition of getting such things like luxury because of their stage in evolutionary process of being developed society. If they are developed then they should wear the bracelets of gold and silver like Muhammad peace be upon him predicted about the conquerors of those times’ super powers of Iran and Rome. And those conquerors were Sahaaba e Kiram (Rizwaanullah ajma een) Nations maybe destroyed without weapons with just luxury but it’s unless you interpret the meaning of luxury into idleness and laziness.

As Allama Iqbal says in one of his great verse,

آتجھ کو بتاتا ہوں تقدیرِ اُمم کیا ہے
شمشیر و سناں اول، طاؤس و رُباب آخر

Dear Mr. President!

I know this is not a debate and I also know that topic is not against any so called fundamentalism but I do understand the worth of topic due to its importance because it’s much critical for a speech in such an event as we are celebrating here.

So, I don’t feel traditional boundaries on me. I think, so I say. I am nor criticizing neither appreciating the luxury. I am just trying to prove positivity that lies in this very critical topic.

Notice! What science gave us? We wasted enormous amounts of corn and when unless we were able to build a harvester. We bore destructions of our crops without the luxurious machines of science. We have been watching our dearest ones dying due to the lack of facilities in medical field. We have been unable to overcome the catastrophes and disasters which came from the nature to destroy our communities.

Respected audience!

Machines help us in our daily lives, they work for us without saying a single word of complaint and they save our time and make us more useful for the society. But the only condition for obtaining such an amazing progress is that you never be a dependant person. Don’t let machines rule over you, but you should always rule over them because you are a human and you can do so forever.

At the end I would like to strengthen my thesis with some beautiful words of a great man,

“This world is yours, and all of it is yours. Do not be hasty to stimulate yourself with chips. It will be a time but now your duty is to understand the nature rather than the prices of wrist watches. I promise it will give you luxury”

Thanks
