Example 15.4:

Two capacitors of 20v_battery capacitance are connected in parallel. What would be the equivalent capacity? If a 20V battery is connected across the combination, (fig. 15.18) find out

  1. The voltage across the two capacitors.
  2. The quantity of charge on each capacitor.

If Ce is the equivalent capacitance of this parallel combination, then

  1. As the two capacitors are connected in parallel, the voltage drop across each capacitor would be the same, equal to voltage of the battery i.e, 20 volts.
