Real World Mapping in 3ds Max

Real world mapping is actually the specific kind of mapping and texturing. It gives you opportunity to create real life dimension in your scene. With real mapping scale you can measure which type of texturing is being used in the scene.

Mapping Helps

The real mapping helps the user to present the modeling and texturing with accuracy and best combination of assigning material to the selected object. You can adjust the parameter of the object to form actual image of the object with accuracy. When you are going to assign mapping to any object, make sure that UV components of the objects are linking with the object geometry. This point is necessary for generating coordinates for the mapping process.

After this you are in position to assign material regularly through material editor. Here you can do some changing like in UV parameter and also do some other modification. In 3ds max we use real mapping by default. You can find the mapping option in the preference dialog box.

Using Custom option you can switch the mapping on or off. Suppose you have a scene where you are required to make floor using bricks. Go to material editor and choose material that is related to your scene. Then assign it to the selected region and view the result in rendered scene. If there need any changing do it in the material editor to give your scene perfect look as shown in the video tutorial
