Creating a Comet Material in 3ds Max

This tutorial is about creating a comet material in 3ds Max.

We have although a model of comet on the screen but we need to modify it to show the actual image of the project. When we have a material type object in our project, we take help from the material editor.

We can get either in a two way. Click on the modifier and there will be material editor in the drop list below or just press “M” from key board and it appears. Its purpose is to edit the material of the object. There are many empty slots available in the editor. Pick up one of them to create a comet, set its diffusion color. There will be three times color choosing option. Choose all of them one by one. The next step is to adjust the specular color and parameter. Just press 6 from your keyboard and particle view will be appearing.  In particle view select render and there will we see a Material Dynamic option choose it.

Now just click on that and drag the comet material slot on it. Right Click on the object and the object properties will open. Check the box image and write the value in Multiplier and click enter. The final step is to adjust the back ground to your project. First of all choose the background image from your drive and then hit 8 from the keyboard to bring Environment and Effect.

Drag the sky map back ground to the Environment Back ground. To view the back ground hit Alt+B to view the back ground. Select the comet material and then click on Assign material to selection. So we had created comet material and then render it to view the project.
