Video-Speeding up Object along Curve in Maya

This is an interesting 3d animation lesson in which you will learn how to animate your object along a path and how to increase its speed in certain part of the animation where as slowing down the speed in the some parts.     Steps:

  1. Create a NURBS curve path with CV curve tool from create menu, then import an air plane 3d model in Maya, select curve and then shift select the airplane 3d model, go to animation menu and click on motion path option and then click on attach to motion path.
  2. Set the key frame at 1 and then press ‘s’ key for setting key at this frame, and then move the time slider at last frame afterwards move the plane at final position in the 3d animation and press ‘s’ key for setting key at this frame and position.
  3. Now your basic 3d animation along a path is ready.
  4. For speeding your object at certain point in the 3d animation suppose between frame no. 120 to frame no. 180,
  5. Select the object, hold down middle mouse button so that when you move time slider you object position remains unchanged, move time slider in this way to 120 and then in the channel box Shapes > Inputs > motion path put U value as 0.1, right click on U value attribute name and click on key selected,
  6. Holding middle mouse button in the same way move time slider to 180 then put value of 0.9 in the U value attribute and then again you right click on name of attribute and select the option of key selected.
  7. Play you animation back you will see during the frames 120-180 object’s speed is more than other normal frames.
