Maya 2012 Tutorial – Three Point Lighting

In this tutorial we shall discuss creating lights, placing and adjusting them along with shadow in the scene. All the set up is done in query and finally the image is obtained with proper lighting and shading textured. There are many types of lighting, spot lighting, target lighting and much more. In this specific tutorial we are just describing three point lightings. If we talked about scene, the character model is in lying position. The lighting application is little bit difficult for this scene but anyway one can do this job easily by following the directions given in this tutorial. The lighting for lying characters are required much more practice. Three point lighting is considered as key light in lighting applications.
First of all, key light is applied in the scene using spot or directional light. Go to create menu to above side of prospective viewport and in its drop down list choose lights and next spot light.
LightingIn this way the spot light will appear on the top of the lying characters, move it aside on horizontal position with the help of move tool. The key light as spot light is kept at 45 degree on the given axes. The lighting assigned in this way will create straight shadow in front of character.
