Abciximab is a strong and effective drug. It helps stopping formation of clots in your blood. Abciximab stops platelets to form a clot which is naturally their duty. Because platelets are a type of blood cells that help body to form blood clots in order for stopping the bleeding.
Whenever a blood vessel gets cracked it sends the signals to platelets. The platelets then rush to the place of injury and form a mass, or clot, to patch-up the leakage. The drug “Abciximab” stops platelets from getting aggregated by binding to a glycoprotein receptor on human platelets.
The glycoprotein is a protein which have carbohydrate groups attached to the polypeptide chain. And Polypeptides are chains of amino acids. In preparation of the drug they use chimeric monoclonal antibodies prepared from humans and mice.
