Importance of Co-Curricular Activities (Essay)

The first need of this topic is to define the co-curricular activities. If so, then it’s again first need to define curricular activities in order to understand the definition of co-curricular activities.

Here they are,

A curricular activity is the activity about pure educational purpose according to the syllabus and courses. On the other hand a co-curricular activity is activity which is not attached to syllabus of the student.

Co-curricular activity refers to very special activities that are recently being held in our province from the government of Punjab by competitions between students on essay writing, speeches, games and many more.

Since previous three decades we are submerging our kid’s future into the ocean of ignorance about the proper education of the day. It’s true because our children have been reading and being taught from morning to evening including their home tuitions and home works. It’s clearly no fair and its burden on the shoulder of students at all. Our curricular activities that are précised by our educationists are ugly in its very core, especially of privatized education systems like falcon, beacom, educators etc.

As I mentioned earlier that co-curricular activities mean outclass activities, here I mean outclass especially as a beautiful term for explaining my present topic. I meant to say out of class which is not directly the matter of our syllabus and courses but it’s very helpful for our nation’s future and that is our student of the day.

Government of Punjab holds different types of competitions every year for searching the talent from the population. They are doing a very good job, thus many intellectuals have recognized their further life without any soul and spirit.

There are many types of co-curricular activities. I am mentioning some of them below,

  1. Debate completions
  2. Essay writing competitions
  3. At the spot speaking power competitions
  4. Games (cricket, football, tennis, hockey, badminton etc)
  5. Drawing competitions
  6. English speaking power competitions

Unload the burden from the shoulders of students

It is a fact that in our so called western style of educating our kids, we put stashes of curricular activities on the shoulders of our children. It is indeed “Ratta” they get nothing except a useless certificate.

So if we want to make our children knowledge men of the future, creator of the destiny of nation, inventors of the new avenues to success, then we must play a positive role and give them a place to stand without any burden in the ground.

Provide them opportunities for exposing themselves in front of their competitors, thus they will be strong in the long run and they will definitely be able to face the hardships, hurdles, obstacles and problems of the nation in the long run.

How to find talent,

As I understood with my little mind that our wise men have felt the lake of men in the production of new generation and they are very much worried about the future, when there will be no Pakistani by passion, so now they in search of the leaders of future. That’s good, that’s very good. I appreciate this great step of the government of Punjab.

It’s my point of view that our elders are now seeding the capable person in the society. They are after the talent and definitely they will find it.

It’s a famous saying that without good health you can never think well. If you cannot think well it means you cannot understand well as well. Co-curricular activities are the only way to achieve this target for our school and college students. They must be involved in such activities for the health of their brain and as well as their bodies.

It follows that only curricular activities are not sufficient instead they are harmful unless we employ the co-curricular activities are not sufficient instead they are harmful unless we employ the co-curricular activities in our education system.
