Describe the application window of MS Access. Lists its different parts.

MS Access application window follows standard layout of all Microsoft applications. It contains different object that are used to design and create databases.

Some important parts of application window are as follows:

  • Title Bar: Title bar identifies the application that is running (Microsoft Access)
  • Menu Bar: Menu bar contains different menus that used to issue various commands.
  • Toolbars: Toolbars contain icons that are shortcuts to select commands from a menu.
  • Menus: Menus contains different menu options to execute various commands.
  • Scroll Bars: Scroll bars are used to move around the window if its contents do not fit on screen.
  • Status Bar: Status bar displays information while the user is working on an object.

Toolbars contain different icons. These icons are shortcuts to select commands from a menu. Toolbars make it easy to use the program’s most common features and functions. The buttons on toolbar change depending on the object and view selected. For example, the toolbars change when the user clicks on toolbar button and opens individual tables, queries, forms and reports in the database. Some toolbars are available for specialized tasks such as editing forms etc.

Use of Toolbar

Toolbars are used for the following purposes:

The difference between toolbar and menu bar is as follows:

Toolbar

  2. Toolbar is accessible more quickly than menu bar
  3. The options of toolbar appear on the screen permanently.
  4. Toolbar occupies more space on the screen.

Menu bar

  1. Menu bar contains options that display text as well as icons on them.
  2. Menu bar is accessible less quickly than toolbar.
  3. The options of menu bar appear when the user clicks the menu.
  4. Menu bar occupies less space on screen.
