Explain the procedure for creating a new database in access
A new database in MS access can be created in two ways:

  • Using dialog box
  • Using main menu

Creating new database using dialog box

The following procedure used to create a new database in MS access using dialog box:

  1. Start Microsoft Access. It will display a dialog box with three options:
  2. Select the Blank Access database option.
  3. Click OK button. A new dialog box will appear as follows:
  4. Type file name in File Name box.
  5. Select any location from save in option.
  6. Click Create button. The database will be created and following window will appear.

New database using Main menu

The following rpocedure sued to create new database in MS Access using main menu:

  1. Start Microsoft Access. A dialog box will appear with three options:
  2. Click Cancel button. The main window will appear follows:

  • Select File > New. The new dialog box will appear.

  1. Select General tab.
  2. Choose Blank Database.
  3. Click OK. The File new Database Dialog box will appear.
  4. Type a file name in File name box.
  5. Select any location from Save in option.
  6. Click Create button. The database will be created and following window will appear.

 Write a procedure to open an existing database File.

The following procedure used to open an existing database in MS Access:

  1. Sarat Microsoft Access. A dialog box will appear with three options:
  2. Select open an existing file option.
  3. Click OK. The open dialog box will appear.
  4. Select a database file from the dialog box.
  5. Click open. The database will open.

What is the procedure of exiting MS Access?

A user can exit from Access in several ways. It is important to exit MS Access properly to prevent any damage to the database. If there is any unsaved object while exiting MS Access prompts to save it be closing. Following methods can be used to exit MS Access:

  • Select File > exit from menu bar. MS Access will be closed. OR
  • Double-click Access Program Icon at the top-left of MS Access window imagesOR
  • Click Close button at the top-right of MS Access windowclose button
