Video – Poly Editing Tools Part 1

In this 3d modeling class lesson you will learn how to model any 3d object in 3d modeling and animation software Autodesk Maya using polygon editing tools and commands. This 3d modeling basics lesson consists of two parts and here is first part of 3d modeling lesson. In 3d computer graphics software applications there are three ways of 3d modeling one is Polygon 3d modeling, Subdivision 3d modeling and NURBS 3d modeling.
Polygon 3d modeling is way of 3d modeling for sharp surface modeling, in Polygon 3d modeling surface of simple 3d object cube, sphere or cylinder etc. is divided into polygonal part and then these polygons are edited with polygon editing tools for making required 3d model, NURBS 3d modeling is way of 3d modeling independent of polygons it uses normal surface with out divided it into polygon and also in NURBS 3d modeling 2d curves are modeled into 3d model using NURBS 3d modeling tools and the Subdivision 3d modeling is something in-between polygon 3d modeling and NURBS 3d modeling. The tools and commands for each method 3d modeling is different here in this 3d modeling lesson you will learn about polygon 3d modeling tools and commands in 3d modeling and animation software Autodesk Maya.
Steps:
Go to create menu and in the polygon primitives click on the cylinder the right click on the object you have options like Vertex, Face and Edge etc. these indicate that you are in polygon 3d modeling mode in Maya so here you select the edge mode.
Now go to the Edit Mesh in Main menus and click on the Extrude edge and that how you get a crown 3d model in 3d modeling and animation software Autodesk Maya.
One of the most important 3d polygons modeling tool is edge loop tool it has various kind present in Edit Mesh menu like Insert edge loop, Duplicate Edge loop, this polygon 3 d modeling tool helps to add more polygons in 3d model for detailed 3d modeling.
Channel box is one of the main tools in 3d modeling and 3d animation in 3d animation modeling software Autodesk Maya, this is box having option for modeling, moving, scaling and rotating objects in 3d workspace in Maya.
