Video-Maya 2011 – User Interface and Navigation

This tutorial refers to user interface and navigation setup. We shall read about camera manipulation here with mouse button. Through mouse, we can perform camera manipulation. Maya provides vast area for working freely on any task. If you are facing any problem in user interface, then you can customize the user interface by closing the toolbars. Maya interface have main viewport which is called prospective viewport, you can use other four viewports also, which are collectively called Orthographic viewports. It offers you to work in top, left and side viewport there. Any model that is designed in Maya is initially created with basic primitives. These primitives are maybe Polygon or NURBS primitives. The NURBS is now converted with surface and you see now surface as main menu setting. The main menu setting contains its separate setting if we change the main menu. There is shelf menu above on the work space, the shelf menu has all the polygonal primitives for the initial modeling of any objects. The shelf menu changes these primitives after changing subdivided icon above shelf menu. From channel box you can modify the shape of the object by putting desired values. To find tools setting, just double click on tool icon and tool setting for selected object will be appeared. The cube above the viewport shows us the navigation of our scene. Although we can simulate the scene with mouse button but little cube on the viewport setting also helps us to change the navigation of our scene. If we look at bottom side of the grid, we can see timeline setting which allows us to simulation the object at your desired condition. So this was the introduction about user interface and navigation commands in Maya.
