Video – Birail Tool Introduction

This free tutorial video is NURBS 3 d modeling class lesson in which you will learn how to model 3d curves in 3d modeling and 3d animation software Maya using Birail tool. Birail tool is one of the very basic and important NURBS 3d modeling tool it creates a flanked curve between two lines. It is very important 3d NURBS modeling tool for engineering and architectural design 3d modeling especially in civil and mechanical architectural designs. Birail tool of NURBS 3d modeling makes a curve involving one, two, three or more sides standing on two railing lines. Here on this 3d modeling and animation software Maya learning website you will get complete training videos of 3d modeling and animation software Maya.

    Steps:

  1. Create a NURBS plane from NURBS primitives.
  2. Right click on the plane and click on control vertex.
  3. Press W from keyboard or click on move tool select any two opposite sides of the square and then move them up from y-axis moving up the green manipulating handle.
  4. Go to the surfaces menu and click on the Birail tool and select Birail 2 tool as here only Birail 2 tool is being discussed.
  5. Then select the straight lines opposite to each other press enter after selecting each line and then select the other two lines which were lifted up press Enter and you see a Birail curve created.
  6. For making it smooth you can increase the value of UVs in the Rebuild option present in Edit NURBS menu.
  7. Go to Edit NURBS menu and click on “Rebuild Surfaces’ option box” and increase the value of U spans and V spans click on ‘Rebuild.’
