Maya Tutorial: Basics, Part 4 of 5

Maya Tutorial Basics, Part 4Here we are again with another interesting tutorial of Maya for beginners at basic stage. There is cone modeling in our scene using polygon primitive in Maya 2010. We can change the color of the object, we use lattice modifier to change the cone shape. And we can also apply material and texture to our model. Shaders are used for the changing the color of the object. On the status line, on the upper left corner of the status line, we have some button to create and then manage the new scene. When you apply it, it will ask you about saving your previous setting in scene. As we want to create and start a new scene therefore we have no need of saving this scene geometry.
Now you have simple workspace for creating your scene. Now we want to introduce you about some useful commands and setting related to Maya interface. You can hide and show different menu bar with the help of display tab. When we choose any primitive, we drag and create them in the centre of grid and you can see the changing in the position of the object in channel box. There is co-ordinates setting there and its values will be increased with the moving object. Now create cone and adjust its radius to fit it properly in the sphere. Press 5 to bring it into shaded mode, modify the lattice value in edit deforming menu and place appropriate values there. The rest of procedure will be done in next part, so stay here and learn more.
