Customization of grid in Maya is sometime necessary for many tasks. It has been seen that many users often forget to customize their girds according to the needs of the scene in Maya or maybe some of them don’t know how to customize grid in Maya. For those who don’t know I have prepared this text and image tutorial which will help in easy way in customizing the grid during working in Maya scene file.
Start Customizing Grind in Autodesk Maya
By default you see the normal grid in your scene,
For changing the options of your grid you should,
1. Go to Display > Grid > options.
The length and width of grid is by default 12 units but you can change it from options window,
2. See the image below,
As well as grid lines and subdivisions also can be changed from the same options window, and if you want to change the color of lines of your grid you have 3 options for 3 of the types of lines,
3. Drag the slider in front of the Axis name for central 2 basic lines which represent the main cross of the grid for X and Z co-ordinates usually.
4. Drag the slider in front of the Grid Lines and Numbers name for changing the color of grid lines.
5. Drag the slider in front of Subdivision lines name for changing the color of subdivision lines, see the image below,
Your grid lines will change like this,
In short words, if you want to change the Maya grid right according to your requirements you can do that. Just try to understand and change the options that are all available in options window,
