Maya 2011 Architectural Modeling Part 2

maya-2011-achitectural-modeling-2This second part of the 3d modeling animation class is about basic 3d modeling in new edition of Maya 2011. Maya 2011 is the latest edition of Maya with improved computer graphics utilities for much easy and fast 3d modeling and 3d animation also great rendering and coloring shades are the prominent features of the Maya 2011. This lesson is about how to create the doors and windows of the room in 3d world of Maya 2011. In the last part we modeled our room and deleted the faces for door and windows. You will learn that how to create the door and window model in new scene and then join them in with the previous scene.

Steps:
Save the last scene and create new scene from the white icon situated with menu set options.
Make 3d model of a cube and then scale the cube according to the door shape.
Press ‘ctrl’ and hit ‘A’ first time attribute editor will appear press these keys again then channel is opened. Now click on the cube 1 attributes and then insert 2 in the subdivision height’ attribute.
The cube (door model) is divided into two parts then.
Select the both faces and extrude the faces inwards but make sure that the keep faces together option is unchecked.
In Maya 2011 if you want to reuse same command then press key ‘G’ from the keyboard this allows you one command again and again after completing one operation.
For duplication press keys ‘ctrl + D’ to create the other part of door.
