Create Terrain with Poly

Here you are learning about simple terrain in Maya. You can create terrain modeling with several methods. But in this lesson we shall use wave deformer to create terrain modeling.

We are performing this tutorial under polygonal modeling, although it is not directly applied on polygonal modeling but some of techniques are applied under polygonal modeling. In our previous tutorial we have already created many modeling tutorial of polygonal modeling.

Here we shall also get help from polygonal modeling because we want to model terrain for game developing and film industry purpose with realistic look. The terrain modeling are actually mud made hut model, using continuous work on terrain we shall be able to create complete terrain modeling.

In this tutorial you will at least find out that how we can utilize the wave deformer for modeling instead of an animation, because it’s assumed that deformity are only used in animation however it is not true.

There are many times when we need to use a deformer for modeling task. I will upload a tutorial very soon which will show how to use deformity in modeling and especially in organic modeling. With deformity we sometime model softer and smooth objects in contrast of NURBS or even Subdivisions.

The following video tutorial is about modeling of village hut which is being created with simple technique of modeling. Create a plane as a base or ground for the house. Go to channel box and using input menu, add amplitude and wavelength effects in your scene.

Once you have done the job then assign material for the selected ground. Polygonal modeling tools are easy to use instead of NURBS modeling tools. In next part we shall do more work on our scene.
