The theme of this movie is musical as well as comedy film. This film is produced by Blue Sky Studios and Carlos Saldanha directed it. The title of this movie is referred to the Brazilian city; Rio de Janeiro and it is also shot here in this city. The cast is consisting on animal and human cartoony characters.
These characters are dubbed by different famous artists. The story revolves around male character Blu who travels to Rio de Janeiro to meet his female lover. He meets her and falls in love with her. The film story was written very earlier in 1995 which was about penguin but later on the concept changed. The newly written script was about Macaw and their surroundings in Rio. After performing many activities, the location was chosen as Rio de Janeiro and character was finalized as Macaw.
The director visited Bronx Zoo to study about this Macaw environment. 20th Century Fox released this movie on March 22, 2011 in Brazil and April 5, 2011 in the United States. This movie got positive remarks by the critics and observer appreciated its visual affects, dubbing and background music. The movie had done record business in worldwide Cinemas.
