Creating a Room with Polygons in Maya


We are here with another interesting topic of Maya, creating internal illusion of room in Maya using polygonal modeling. We start our lesson by taking polygonal cube for the modeling of our room. Scale the cube and select its front faces and hit delete because we have no need of them more in our scene. Now we have two walls and ground of the room in our scene. Next we shall create some other items for room decoration e.g. table, lamp etc. Hide the room modeling and take another polygonal cube and shrink it in down way position. It is because we shall use it for top of our table. Select the edges of cube and bevel it. Using curve, create leg drawing for table. Then select the curve and apply round, this will make the leg shape perfectly. Don’t forget to delete previous history, select the leg modeling and with shift selected make copy of it for other three legs. We have created table modeling successfully, unhide the room modeling and place the table there and grouped it with whole modeling. Next we need to draw table lamp for our modeling. Using cylinder, you can make stand of your lamp. Create sphere to bend the lamp modeling. Using basic and simple techniques you will be able to create complete lamp modeling. Again unhide the scene and bring lamp model there and grouped them mutually. With move tool, place the lamp properly in the corner of table. Press 5 to bring the model into shaded mode.
