Maya 2011 Architectural Modeling Part 9

This is Urdu/Hindi 3d Architectural Modeling class about how to texture floor with the marble plate textures in 3d modeling and animation software Maya 2011. 3D modeling consists of character setup, character 3d texturing, UV mapping, character coloring, shading and rendering.

In this lesson you will learn about character texturing and character coloring in 3d modeling animation software application Maya 2011. The tips and techniques of the method are given below:

  • For creating marble plate floor select the faces of veranda and other part like pool here.
  • Go to the Photoshop; create new image then adjust the page size, color with your choice, and make the shape like 3d plate and make setting as recommended in this video.
  • Save the file with JPEG format in Photoshop and switch to the Maya 2011.
  • Right click from your mouse choose ‘Assign favorite material’ option, click on ‘Blinn’ this time for a reflecting floor texture.
  • In the Blinn window; click on the checker box in front of ‘color’ and choose file icon click on folder icon for browsing file and open the last file saved in Photoshop.

For more detailed texture; in the ‘Create UV’ choose Automatic UV mapping and then scale the area for UV mapping.

Come back to object mode and in the attribute editor (ctrl + A) and then scroll left to choose ‘marble’ option there. Then in color option choose place 2d texture, insert number of the marble plates you want in one line of the floor by putting any value in the boxes of ‘Repeat UV’ which represent U axis value and V axis value.
