(12) We use the present perfect with “this is the first time”.
ہمpresentperfectکوthis is the first timeیاit is the first timeکے ساتھ بھی استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

(a) This is the first time I have been to Karachi, So it is all new to me.
یہ پہلی مرتبہ ہے کہ میں کراچی آیا ہوں اس لئے سب کچھ میرے لئے نیا ہے۔
(b) I love this book. I think it is the third time I have read it.
مجھے یہ کتاب پسند ہے۔ میراخیال ہے کہ یہ تیسری مرتبہ ہے کہ میں نے یہ کتاب پڑھی ہے۔
(c) It is the second time I have visited Lahore.
یہ دوسری مرتبہ ہے کہ میں لاہور آئی ہوں (یا آرہی ہوں)
(d) It is the only book he has written.
یہ اوحد کتاب ہے(جو)اُس نے لکھی ہے۔

(13) It is used with simple past by using since to tell that an action began in the past and continuous up to the present time of speaking.
Present perfectٹینس simple pastکے ساتھ sinceلگا کر استعمال کیا جاتاہے۔یہ کسی ایسے کام کو ظاہر کرتاہے جو مزکورہ وقت سے ابھی تک جاری ہو۔

(a) They have not visited us since Junaid went to Peshawar.
جب سے جنید پشاور گیا ہے تب سے وہ ہمیں ملنے نہیں آئے۔
(b) I have smoked since I left school.
جب سے میں نے سکول چھوڑا ہے تب سے میں سگریٹ نوشی کر رہا ہوں۔
(c) I have not drunk this water since I tasted it.
جب سے میں نے اسے چکھا ہے تب سے میں نے پانی نہیں پیا۔

(14) This morning, this evening can by used with the present perfect or past tense depending on the time the statement is mode.
This evening،thisafternoonیاthismorningکے الفاظ
Present perfectیاsimplepastکے ساتھ استعمال کئے جاسکتے ہیں۔یہ الفاظ جس ٹینس کے ساتھ بھی استعمال کئے جائیں گے۔ اس کا دارومدار اُس وقت پر ہے جب بات کی جارہی ہے۔
EXAMPLES:
(a) I have written two letters this morning (said during the morning).
آج صبح میں نے دوخط لکھے ہیں(یہ بات صبح کے اوقات میں کہی جارہی ہے)
I wrote two letters this morning. (said in the afternoon or evening).
آج صبح میں نے دو خط لکھے۔
(b) Imran has rung me up three times this afternoon.
عمران نے آج عصر کو مجھے تین بار فون کی ہے۔(یہ بات عصر کے وقت کہی جارہی ہے)
اگر شام کا وقت ہو تو یہ بات یوں کہی جائیگی۔
Imran raug me up three times this afternoon.
عمران نے آج عصر کو مجھے تین بار فون کی ہے

(15) It is also used with construction “it is +period + since +present perfect.
یہ ٹینس اس طور سے بھی استعمال ہوتا ہے جو اُوپر مزکور ہے۔اس لحاظ سے اس کا معنی کیسے کریں گے۔ہم اس بات کو مثالوں سے واضح کئے دیتے ہیں۔
EXAMPLES:
(a) It is three years since I have seen Kashif.
کاشف سے ملنے ہوئے مجھے تین سال ہوگئے ہیں۔اسی فقرے کو درج زیل تین طریقوں سے بھی کہہ سکتے ہیں جس میں اُوپر لکھے گئے جملے اور ان کے معانی میں کوئی فرق نہیں ہوگا۔
It is three years since I (last)saw Kashif
OR I last saw Kashif three ‘year ago’
OR I haven’t seen Kashif for three years.
(b) It is two months since Aslam has smoked a cigarette.
اسلم کو سگریٹ پئے ہوئے دوماہ ہوگئے ہیں۔اس جملے کو یوں بھی ادا کیا جاسکتا ہے۔
