While no one was right crying out for second helpings of this animated meat-erotology franchise, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is charming enough on its own not to feel like now reheated leftovers. Inventor Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader), the man whose foodstuff generating contraption led to the comestible weather patterns in 2009’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and his gang of pals discover that his invention is still at large. What’s more, it has started imbuing its makings with sentience, leading to an entire edible ecosystem.
Story: It’s always been Flint’s vision to be recognized as a grand inventor, but the whole thing changes when he discovers that his most infamous machine which turns water into food is still operating and is now creating mutant food beasts. With the fate of civilization in his hands, Flint and his friends must embark on a dangerously delicious task, battling hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and other food creatures to save the world again!
